In Reverse Engineering we offer a 3D laser scanning service which can be used to capture the shape and detail of components and assemblies.The output can be provided as a point-cloud model or, more often, we undertake the post-processing to provide polygon (STL) or NURBS-surfaced CAD Models ready for export in a variety of formats.Typically this process is used to generate CAD data for hand-finished products, to capture complex free-form geometry or to create 3D CAD models of legacy parts or tooling.

FARO Laser Line probe captures 30 images per second with 640 points per image (i.e. 19200 points per second)

Using Geomagic Studio software the cloud of scanned points is displayed as a rendered image of the data acquisition PC.

A polygon model is created from the point cloud data. Output formats include: DXF, IGES, OBJ, STL, PLY, VRML

NURBS-surfaced models with patch construction and control can be generated from the polygon model. Output formats include: IGES, STEP, Neutral, VDA, SAT
